BB 3100 - HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE:

An introduction to the doctrinal, historical, and literary nature of the Bible, and other general questions involved in reading the Bible with understanding. The course also deals with the authority, purpose, and message of the Bible; the history reflected in the Old Testament; and principles of biblical interpretation.

OT 3103 - OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY, PART I (Background, Pentateuch, and Former Prophets):
A survey of:
(1) The historical and cultural background of the Old Testament,
(2) the books of the Pentateuch [Genesis through Deuteronomy], and
(3) the books known as the Former Prophets (Joshua, Judges, 1-2 Samuel, and 1-2 Kings).

OT 3104 - OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY, PART II (The Prophets and the Writings): A survey of all the prophetic books of the Old Testament (Isaiah through Malachi) as well as miscellaneous books known as the Writings (Psalms, Job, Proverbs, Ruth, Song of Songs, Ecclesiastes, Lamentations, Esther, Daniel, Ezra-Nehemiah, and I and 2 Chronicles).

OT 3125 - ISAIAH: A study of the book of Isaiah and its author-the prophet Isaiah.

OT 0126 - JEREMIAH: A study of Jeremiah, the prophet and book.

OT 3132 - STUDIES IN AMOS: A study of the life and times of the prophet Amos and his message of judgment to the Northern Kingdom of Israel.

NT 0160 - BEGINNING NEW TESTAMENT GREEK (Greek I): A course for beginners on the basic elements of grammar in the New Testament, focusing on the Greek alphabet and its key biblical words and various forms of verbs, nouns, pronouns, and adjectives.

NT 3166 - NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY, PART I (The Background, Gospels, and Acts): A survey of the historical and cultural background of the New Testament, along with the life, ministry, and teachings of Jesus. The course also covers the process by which the gospels were written and explores the similarities among the synoptic gospels and the uniqueness of the gospel of John. Also covered are the authorship, purpose and content of the book of Acts.

NT 3167 - NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY, PART II (The Epistles): A Survey of all the epistles of the New Testament, from Romans through Revelation. Included are the general epistles of the apostle Paul, his pastoral epistles, and the general epistles.

NT 3170 - A STUDY OF MATTHEW'S GOSPEL: An overview of the Gospel of Matthew, focusing on the purpose of the gospel, the major events in the life of Jesus, and the teachings of this gospel on faith, salvation, and the Christian life.

NT 3172 - LUKE: This course focuses on the authorship, characteristics, and content of the Gospel of Luke.

NT 0173 - JOHN: A study of John's Gospel, comparing the style and content of the Fourth Gospel with the Synoptic Gospels.

NT 0175 - ROMANS: A study of the book of Romans where the writer tries to put Paul's thoughts in language that can be more easily understood today. The basic objective is to gain an understanding of Paul's exposition of salvation by faith.

NT 0176 - FIRST CORINTHIANS: A study of Paul's first letter to the church at Corinth.

NT 0177 - STUDIES IN GALATIANS: An exposition of the major truths of Paul's letter to the Galatians.

NT 0178 - EPHESIANS AND PHILIPPIANS: A study of Paul's letters to the Ephesians and Philippians Christians.

NT 0180 - COLOSSIANS AND PHILEMON: A study of Paul's letters to the Colossians and Philemon including their purpose, their literary and theological characteristics, and the practical applications of these two great documents of the Christian faith.

NT 3181 - 1 and 2 THESSALONIANS: A study of Paul's first and second epistles to the Thessalonians, focusing on the key messages of these New Testament books.

NT 0185 - HEBREWS: A study of the epistle to the Hebrews.

NT 3186 - JAMES: A study of the authorship, background, and teachings of the epistle of James in the New Testament.

NT 3190 - REVELATION: A study of the background, authorship, and teaching of the book of Revelation.

Theological -Historical Area Courses

TH 3200-SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY: A survey of Christian doctrines with emphasis upon revelation, the nature and work of God, Jesus Christ, humankind and sin, the Holy Spirit, salvation, and last things or eschatology.

TH 3201-NEW TESTAMENT THEOLOGY: A thematic study of the teachings of the New Testament including the Bible, God, humanity, sin, salvation, the church, the ordinances, the ministry, the Christian life, the kingdom, and the ultimate goal of history.

CH 3211-HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY: A study of the history of Christianity from New Testament times until the modem era. The course focuses on the great movements and heresies in Christian history as well as other factors which have influenced Christianity.

CE 3231 -INTRODUCTION TO CHRISTIAN ETHICS: A study of the ethical principles of the Bible and Christian responsibility in contemporary society, focusing on such issues as human sexuality, economics, human relations, politics, abortion, euthanasia, world hunger, capital punishment, and medical issues. One unit deals with ethical decision making.

Practical Area Courses

PM 3257-CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN PREACHING: A study of the role of preaching and the preacher, the scope and purpose of the sermon, and how to organize and deliver a sermon. Attention is given to how to plan one's preaching from week to week and on a long-range basis.

GM 3500-FORMATION FOR MINISTRY: A study of the meaning of ministry; some spiritual, personal, and professional requirements for ministry; and ways in which ministry may be expressed. Major topics covered are spiritual discipline, vocational discernment, and the theology of ministry.

CA 0282-DEVELOPING LEADERS FOR MINISTRY: A study of leadership and ways to discover, enlist, train, and guide volunteer leaders in the church.

PM0351-PASTORAL CARE: A study of the work of the pastor as "shepherd of the flock." Counseling, comforting, worship leadership, and conflict resolution are some of the topics covered.

PM 0255-EVANGELISM: A study of the biblical basis of evangelism, a church program of evangelism, and personal witnessing.

PM 3254-PUBLIC WORSHIP: An examination of worship from the perspectives of personal experience, theology, psychology, the Bible, Christian history, and music. Special attention is given to the various elements of a worship service and the development of skills in planning and conducting public worship.

CA 3281-PRINCIPLES OF CHURCH ADMINISTRATION: A study of effective principles and methods of administering the organization of a local church including defining the church's purpose, establishing goals, planning, working with volunteers, and managing financial and physical resources.
